Gulfstream G400 Completes Maiden Flight
Aircraft Defines New Standard with Flight Test Program Launching in Savannah
Savannah, GA [DATE] - Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced the all-new Gulfstream G400 successfully completed its first flight just after 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023.
The aircraft departed Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport and spent approximately two hours in the air while testing the aircraft's handling qualities, systems, and performance. The flight crew consisted of Gulfstream test pilots Scott Martin and Jesse Johnson, and flight test engineers John O'Shaughnessy and Jonathan Evans.
"The jet performed exceptionally well, and we had no issues during the entire flight," said Scott Martin, Gulfstream chief test pilot. "I am very impressed with the aircraft's stability and handling."
The G400 is the newest aircraft in Gulfstream's family of business jets. It can accommodate up to 19 passengers, and has a range of 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 kilometers). The aircraft also features a number of new technologies, including Gulfstream's Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) and its Synthetic Vision System (SVS), which help pilots see in low-visibility conditions.
The G400 is expected to enter service in 2025, and it will be available in a variety of configurations, including a VIP transport, a corporate shuttle, and a medevac aircraft. The aircraft is expected to be popular with a wide range of customers, including corporations, governments, and high-net-worth individuals.
